Child Development
At The Fermain Academy, Child Development is offered as an option subject in Years 10 and 11. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of the physical, emotional and social development of children, alongside practical skills in supporting learning and wellbeing.
Students explore key topics such as growth and development, nutrition, health and safety, and childcare practices. Lessons are structured to develop knowledge, critical thinking and practical skills, preparing learners for further study, vocational training or careers in childcare and education. The subject also promotes empathy, responsibility and problem-solving, equipping students with skills that are valuable both personally and professionally.
