At The Fermain Academy, our English curriculum is designed to rebuild confidence, strengthen literacy and inspire a genuine enjoyment of reading and writing. Many of our students arrive with gaps in their learning or reduced confidence due to previous challenges, and we provide an inclusive, supportive approach that meets the needs of all learners, including those with SEND.

Students explore a range of texts and writing styles, developing essential communication skills and an understanding of how language shapes the world around us. Through structured teaching, targeted support and opportunities for creative expression, we help students make strong progress and feel confident in their abilities.

English plays an important role in preparing students for life beyond Fermain. Whether moving on to college, an apprenticeship or employment, our curriculum ensures that every learner leaves with the literacy skills they need for their next steps.
