Geography

At The Fermain Academy, Geography is offered as an option subject from Year 10, leading to GCSE qualifications. Our curriculum is designed to engage students with the world around them, helping them understand the relationships between people, places and environments, while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Through a mix of classroom learning and real-world case studies, students explore topics such as physical landscapes, human geography, sustainability and global issues. This approach encourages curiosity, analytical thinking and a deeper awareness of the challenges facing our planet, equipping learners with knowledge that is relevant and meaningful.

Geography also prepares students for life beyond Fermain, fostering transferable skills such as research, data interpretation and decision-making, while supporting pathways into further study, vocational opportunities or careers with a global perspective.
