Maths

At The Fermain Academy, we believe that Mathematics is far more than a subject on the timetable. It is a vital life skill that empowers young people to make sense of the world around them. Many of our students arrive with gaps in their knowledge or a lack of confidence in maths, often shaped by previous experiences of learning that have not worked for them. We recognise these challenges, including the diverse needs of our SEND students, but we never allow them to limit what our students can achieve.

Our approach to Maths is ambitious, supportive and inclusive. Every lesson is designed to meet the needs of all learners, providing personalised support where it is needed most. Through carefully planned teaching, practical application and targeted guidance, we help students rebuild their confidence, close gaps and develop the skills they need for future study, employment and everyday life. We aim to nurture curiosity, resilience and a sense of achievement, showing every student that maths is accessible and something they can genuinely succeed in.
