PE
At The Fermain Academy, Physical Education is both a core subject for all students and an optional choice in Years 10 and 11, reflecting the importance we place on health, wellbeing and physical development. Many of our students arrive with varying levels of fitness or confidence, and our inclusive PE curriculum ensures that every learner can participate, develop skills and experience success.
Our PE lessons take place in a variety of excellent facilities, including our own enclosed indoor sports area, a fully stocked gym, and an outdoor 3G MUGA. We also work in partnership with the local leisure centre to provide additional opportunities for sport and physical activity. Through a range of activities, students develop teamwork, resilience, coordination and personal fitness, while enjoying engaging and challenging sessions.
PE and general health and fitness plays a key role in preparing students for life beyond Fermain, there are the obvious benefits of educating students and supporting healthy lifestyles as they become adults and also providing experiences that can lead to further study, vocational opportunities or sport-related pathways.
You can find more details about how we structure and deliver our PE curriculum in our Tier 2 PE Curriculum document. PE Tier 2 Curriculum Document
