RE
At The Fermain Academy, Religious Education is a core subject for all students, with every learner participating in one RE session each week. We believe RE plays a vital role in helping students explore values, beliefs and ethical issues, and in developing respect and understanding for themselves and others.
Our curriculum is inclusive and engaging, designed to encourage thoughtful discussion, critical thinking and reflection. Students explore a wide range of world religions, moral questions and contemporary issues in ways that are accessible, relevant and meaningful to their lives. This approach fosters empathy, celebrates diversity, and equips students with the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to thrive in a multicultural society.
RE also helps prepare students for life beyond Fermain, giving them the confidence to navigate different communities and make informed, thoughtful choices.
You can find more details about how we structure and deliver our RE curriculum in our Tier 2 RE Curriculum document. RE Tier 2 Curriculum Document
Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education. The school recognises this right and will respect any such requests. Where a request for withdrawal is made, the school will discuss this with parents and carers to ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place and that the child’s educational experience continues to meet their needs.
