Science

At The Fermain Academy, we are passionate about Science and the role it plays in helping students understand the world around them. Many of our learners arrive with gaps in their knowledge or a lack of confidence in the subject, and some have had challenging experiences in previous settings. We recognise these challenges, including the needs of our SEND students, but we are committed to ensuring that every student can succeed and reach their full potential.

Our Science curriculum is ambitious, inclusive and designed to engage all learners. In Year 10, students complete GCSE Chemistry, while in Year 11 they study GCSE Biology, and some students also have the opportunity to take GCSE Physics. Through practical experiments, real-world applications and targeted support, we help students build knowledge, develop critical thinking skills and gain the confidence to excel. Every lesson is tailored to meet individual needs, ensuring that all learners can make progress and enjoy the journey of scientific discovery.
