As the students from The Fermain Academy, Macclesfield, head off for a relaxing summer – work at the school continues.

At this time of year Jonathan Mayer, Site Manager, takes the opportunity to carry out maintenance at the Academy, which was granted Outstanding School status by Ofsted inspectors in June 2018.

When he saw that local social landlord Peak & Plains Housing Trust was offering their time and energy for community projects, Jonathan put the school forward as an option.

Of all the nominations that came in, staff at Macclesfield-based Peaks & Plains voted overwhelmingly to support the Academy, which supports 13-16 year olds who struggle with conventional education.

With support in the form of materials from Jewson, a building supplier in Hurdsfield, staff from across the Trust repainted the upstairs hallways, classrooms and offices.

“Our students treat their school with respect but everyday wear and tear takes its toll. We’re were delighted that Peaks & Plains chose us as one of their Give and Gain projects. The work they have done has prepared the school for another outstanding year for our students.”
